Clingman’s Dome Sunrise

This was taken in September, 2007, when I was in Gatlinburg (That’s when Chip and Shira were married).  Doug and I climbed to the lookout at Clingman’s Dome (the highest point in the Smokies) just before sunrise.  It meant getting up really, really early and driving a long way in the dark and climbing a very steep incline in the cold and wet and dark, but it was SO worth it.

That’s Doug, by the way.  We were the only ones there for the actual sunrise, although we were joined within a few minutes by several other photographers.

  1. The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. Psalm 19: 1-4

  2. I have been up there as well. It is a beautiful view, and a nice pic. I remember you posting it a couple of years ago!
